

On Thursday 20th February 2025, a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed between His Worship Mayor Alie Badara Tarawallie on behalf of Port Loko City Council and Welthungerhilfe Organization. This landmark agreement, witnessed by representatives from Government Institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations i.e. MADAM Sierra Leone, and members of the Press, solidifies a mutual partnership focused on addressing key developmental challenges within the city. WHH as part of their mandates to promote Sustainable Development has been working with various local councils in Sierra Leone, PLCC joining the list of those Councils is a step in the right direction.
The MOU outlines a comprehensive framework for joint efforts in promoting crucial areas such as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities, Waste Management, strengthening Food Security, implementing impactful Climate Action initiatives, and fostering Youth Empowerment programs. Additionally, the agreement encompasses provisions for dedicated Project Support, ensuring the effective implementation and sustainability of these vital initiatives. This partnership signifies a pivotal step forward in Mayor Tarawallie’s vision to transform Port Loko into a prosperous and resilient city, setting a precedent for collaborative development efforts across the city.
